Tixserve partners with Welsh Rugby Union to provide fully digital ticketing service
May 6, 2021

Tixserve is proud to announce the signing of a new multi-year contract with Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) to provide a fully digital ticketing service for the Principality Stadium.

The partnership follows a competitive procurement process which resulted, says Matthew Clarke, WRU Ticketing Manager, in Tixserve being chosen as...

“the standout supplier”.

After being successfully tested during the Guinness Six Nations sports events, as part of the entry process, the positive response drove the decision to press ahead for Autumn 2021’s launch.

The simple, intuitive, and secure Tixserve-powered Principality Stadium app will be used for its sporting events at the 74,500-capacity venue. Since opening its doors in June 1999, the rugby stadium has welcomed, on average, over 1.3 million visitors per year.

The partnership with Tixserve supports the Welsh governing body’s quest to adapt to the current Covid-19 sporting climate and to bring fans back to matches in a safe manner.

In the short term, these Tixserve features will enable WRU to welcome fans back in a safe environment, with the mobile event ticketing app providing clear communication of expected ticket holder behaviour following the Covid-19 pandemic.

The digital ticketing app includes features such as mandatory sign-up to codes of conduct and mandatory viewing of a Health & Wellbeing video; while Tixserve’s ‘track and trace’ technology enables WRU to know who actually is attending the sporting events - invaluable “know your customer” data. The digital tickets app will also enable fans visiting the stadium to receive their event tickets instantly and securely, while event information and updates can be sent by the WRU to their ticket holders in real-time.

Pat Kirby, Managing Director of Tixserve says,

“Tixserve is committed to responding to the evolving digital ticketing requirements of Welsh Rugby and its ticket holders and looks forward to building a strong, long-term business relationship with the recently crowned Six Nations champions.”
